App Privacy Policy

Effective October 24, 2026

In short: our apps don't collect, transmit, or share any data. There's no account, no server, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything you enter stays on your device unless you choose to share, export, or back it up.

Which apps this covers

This policy applies to the mobile and desktop apps published by Stratford Holdings LLC ("we", "us"), including Focalog and Social Scale, and to any other app whose store listing or settings link here. If an app works differently from what's described below, the difference is spelled out in Notes for specific apps.

This website has its own privacy policy.

What the apps store, and where

The apps store what you enter (for example, names, notes, photos, records, and settings) in the app's private storage on your device.

We never receive this information. The apps make no network connections of their own to us or to anyone else, and they don't include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code.

Camera, photos, and other permissions

An app asks for a permission only when you use a feature that needs it, and you can change your choice at any time in your device's settings. When you choose an existing photo, the system photo picker gives the app only the photo you select; it can't see the rest of your library. Photos and anything else you add are used only inside the app.

When information leaves your device

Only when you make it happen:

  • Sharing, exporting, and printing. Files, images, and reports you share go wherever you send them (Mail, Messages, AirDrop, Files, Google Drive, a printer, and so on).
  • Your own devices. Some apps pass information directly between your own devices, such as a paired iPhone and Apple Watch. It doesn't pass through any server of ours.
  • Device backups. Like other apps' data, an app's data is included in your device's backups if you have them turned on: iCloud Backup or a computer backup on iPhone and iPad, and your Google backup and transfers to a new device on Android. Those backups are handled by Apple or Google under your account.
  • Email. Feedback and support links open your email app. Anything you send us by email is used only to reply to you and to improve our apps.
  • Ratings and links. Rating prompts are handled by the App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft Store, not by us. Help and privacy links open this website in your browser.

Information about students

Several of our apps are tools for adults, such as teachers, speech-language pathologists, counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and parents, to use with students. You decide what student information to enter, and you're responsible for handling it under your school's or district's policies and the laws that apply to you (such as FERPA). A first name, initials, or a code name is enough for the apps to work.

Because no information leaves the device, we don't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Crash reports

If you choose to share analytics with app developers (on iPhone and iPad, Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us crash reports. On Android, if you've chosen to share usage and diagnostics data with Google, Google Play may do the same. On Windows, if you send optional diagnostic data to Microsoft, the Microsoft Store may do the same. Beta testers can also send feedback and crash reports through TestFlight or Google Play testing. These reports contain technical details about the app and your device model, not the information you've entered in the app.

Deleting your information

Delete items in the app, or delete the app from your device to remove everything it stored. Files you've shared, exported, printed, or backed up elsewhere aren't affected; delete them where you sent or saved them.

Notes for specific apps

Focalog

  • Apple Watch keeps only what it needs to record: the students you sync to it, your presets and lists, and any session not yet delivered to your iPhone. They're sent between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch with Apple's WatchConnectivity.
  • Encrypted backup files are protected with a password you choose (AES-256-GCM). Without the password a backup can't be read, by you or anyone else, so it can't be recovered if you forget it.
  • Settings → Privacy can show names as initials only and can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Peers are never named or recorded individually.

Social Scale

  • On iPhone and iPad, the system asks for camera permission the first time you take a photo. On Android, Social Scale opens your device's camera app, which hands back only the photo you take; Social Scale doesn't have camera permission, and it doesn't have permission to use the internet.
  • When upgrading from an earlier version, Social Scale reads your existing students from the files already on your device and moves them into the new version. Your original files aren't changed or sent anywhere. If some can't be read, it shows a report you can choose to share; it lists the files and the problem, not student names or notes.
  • "Suggest a Feature" opens your email app with a message to socialscale@riddlepop.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If an app adds an optional feature that sends data off your device (for example, sync), it will be off by default, and this policy will be updated before that version is released.
